JOB SUMMARY:
Assist in meal preparation, service and clean-up while providing a safe environment by maintaining the kitchen and cafeteria areas in compliance with federal, state, local and accreditation / licensing standards. Assist the Food Service Manager in supervising students participating in vocational training.
Activities include, but are not limited to, preparing and serving meals, catering, washing dishes, kitchen clean-up, and following cleaning schedule.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Compliance:
- Assure that all client environments are in compliance with minimum standards
- Maintain the kitchen and cafeteria areas in compliance with federal, state, local and accreditation / licensing standards
- Maintain client safety guidelines
- Assure that clients are free from neglect, abuse, and/or exploitation
- Report allegations of neglect and abuse to TDFPS and/or Executive Director or his designee
- Maintain client confidentiality
- Assure that all clients are properly supervised and cared for according to BAC Policy
- Adhere to employee rules and company policy
- Report concerns to a supervisor
- Relay information to supervisor and / or appropriate staff
- Follow through with supervisor requests / assignments
- Ensure that BAC is a harassment-free work place
Kitchen Activities:- Maintain current Food Handler's Card
- Maintain kitchen and cafeteria areas in compliance with policies and standards
- Prepare and serve hot food line and salad bar including drinks
- Ensure that client specific meals are prepared in compliance with orders
- Ensure that meals are served on time
- Wash dishes
- Follow cleaning schedules (daily, weekly, monthly, etc.)
- Ensure that all dangerous materials / equipment and chemicals are kept from client access (i.e. keeping knives locked, closing half door when utilizing dangerous equipment or when clients are present, etc.)
- Supervise vocational students as they assist in the kitchen
- Oversee meal preparation and kitchen activities in the absence of the Food Service Manager
- Stock, restock and notify Food Service Manager of need for maintaining inventory

Personnel File:- Maintain continuing education as appropriate including licenses, certification and training hours
- Keep personnel folder in compliance
Other:- Any other assigned duties as outlined by Program Director or Executive Director

- Ability to use commercial equipment (initial training will be provided)

WORKING CONDITIONS:- Working in the kitchen standing the majority of the day
- At times preparing / serving meals outdoors during special occasions
- Exposure to heat from appliances
- Clients may exhibit self-injurious or aggressive behaviors
- Tobacco-free / smoke-free environment
RISKS:- Injuries related to equipment use
- Use/Misuse of chemicals
- Exposure to body fluids
- Exposure to open wounds of others
- Risk of physical aggression, including human bites, by a student
- Contagious diseases

Back Support for Lifting Gloves during serving
