Job Summary:

Provides awake night monitoring of clients to ensure the safety and well-being of the clients.

Essential Functions

Compliance:

  1. Ensure that all client environments are in compliance with minimum standards
  2. Maintain client safety guidelines
  3. Ensure that clients are free from neglect and abuse
  4. Report allegations of neglect and abuse to TDFPS and/or Executive Director or his designee
  5. Maintain client confidentiality
  6. Ensure that all clients are properly supervised and cared for according to BAC Policy
  7. Adhere to the BAC Code of Conduct and Code of Ethics
  8. Adhere to employee rules and company policy
  9. Report concerns to a supervisor
  10. Relay information to supervisor and / or appropriate staff
  11. Follow through with supervisor requests / assignments
  12. Ensure that BAC is a harassment-free work place


Teaching Home:
  1. Ensure that the home is clean and free from unsanitary conditions at all times
  2. Assist in household chores as needed
  3. Take initiative to perform duties


Monitoring of Clients:
  1. Stay alert and awake throughout entire shift
  2. Make rounds to check on areas of the Teaching Home as outlined by supervisor
  3. Monitor clients closely at all times
  4. Ensure that clients do not engage in inappropriate or dangerous behavior
  5. Wake up the Teaching Parents in the event that the client demonstrates any inappropriate behavior, when there is a potentially dangerous situation, or in the event of an emergency
  6. Maintain an atmosphere in the home that respects the needs of all individuals
  7. Work quietly to ensure that there is minimal disruption to the clients sleeping environment
  8. Maintain documentation (i.e. sleep logs, data collection, etc.) as required


Treatment of Clients:
  1. Treat clients with kindness, dignity, and respect
  2. Advise management of any medical, behavioral, or academic needs of the client
  3. Verbally intervene with clients appropriately
  4. Implement the client's programs in proactive and consistent manner


Attitude:
  1. Work cooperatively as a team member
  2. Display positive work attitude
  3. Support all areas of the program (Educational Program, Recreation, Animal Care, etc.)
  4. Demonstrate professionalism
  5. Treat staff and coworkers with respect
  6. Promote positive image of BAC while in the community and dealing with community
  7. Refrain from allowing personal opinions or biases to interfere with client progress
  8. Model appropriate social behavior to clients


General:
  1. Comply with attendance requirements
  2. Perform job requirements without requiring excessive supervision
  3. Refrain from pursuing personal activities while on duty or allowing personal issues to interfere with work
  4. Take initiative/be a self starter in carrying out job duties
  5. Exhibit good time management skills


Personnel File:
  1. Maintain continuing education as appropriate including licenses, certification and training hours
  2. Keep personnel folder in compliance


Other:
  1. Any other assigned duties as outlined by Program Director, or Executive Director

  2. Must be able to maintain line of sight supervision of multiple clients
  3. Demonstrate the ability to work quietly
  4. Demonstrate concern and care for children with special needs
  5. Demonstrate the ability to work in special education environment
  6. Demonstrate the ability to work well with others
  7. Possess the ability to be flexible in task assignment
  8. Recognize safe and unsafe conditions


Working Conditions:

  • Working indoors
  • Quiet work area that allows clients and staff to sleep
  • Work in close proximity to clients
  • Clients may exhibit aggressive behavior
  • Entire shift is spent focused on needs of clients - personal errands or appointments must be done during off time
  • Tobacco-free / smoke-free / drug-free environment
  • No designated breaks


Risks:

  • Exposure to body fluids
  • Exposure to open wounds of others
  • Risk of physical aggression, including human bites, by a student
  • Use/Misuse of chemicals
  • Injuries related to equipment use
  • Contagious diseases

  • Back Support for lifting


Must Adhere to Dress Code for Safety(see policies for further details) :
  • Closed shoes (toe and heel)
  • No excessive jewelry

Job Skills/Requirements:

A. Education:

MinimumHigh School Diploma / GED

Required - CPR

Required - First Aid

As scheduled following the Training Calendar

1. Must pass Criminal History Check

2. Must pass Drug and Alcohol Testing (initial and on-going)
