Position Details
Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job
This full-time clinical, non-tenure-track (9 month) faculty member will teach 12 credit hours each Fall and Spring in Early Childhood Education. Teaching duties are performed on the main campus in Huntsville, at off-site teaching locations, and online. The faculty member will supervise or support field-based courses and curricula, and demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring students. Additionally, this faculty member will engage in service and/or leadership opportunities as part of their duties and participate in departmental, college, and university meetings and committees.
Educational Requirements for the Position
M.Ed. in Education, Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or closely related field. Ph.D. or Ed.D. preferred. Candidates must have earned a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Early Childhood Education.
Experience Required for the Position
Must hold or be eligible for state public school teaching certification and/or have a minimum of three (3) years early childhood or elementary school teaching experience. Knowledge of standards research-based curriculum and instruction in early childhood education. Candidates should understand child development birth-age 8 and developmentally appropriate practices for young children in a variety of early care and educational settings.
Other Requirements for the Position
Preferred Qualifications include:
Experience teaching in the early years (PK-3). Experience working with field-based schools/care sites. Experience teaching adult learners in different modalities including face-to-face, hybrid, and online courses
