Educational and Experience Requirement
Bachelor's degree in a related field. Three years of experience in a related field. Previous experience in healthcare, communications, marketing, public relations, or comparable field preferred. Experience working within a healthcare institution and with physicians and members of a healthcare team is strongly preferred. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature & Purpose of Position
Performs complex administrative and supervisory program work and ensures a comparable clerkship education for Sam Houston State University (SHSU) College of Osteopathic Medicine medical students to include site recruitment, outreach, and development, scheduling, clerkship process improvement, and management of other clinical education initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities
Plans, develops, recruits, and maintains the community based clinical training sites and preceptors within the assigned region. Serves as the primary coordinator for clinical training experiences for students based on the clinical rotation calendar for each clinical site. Acts as the liaison with clinical sites and preceptors to coordinate and manage clinical training experiences for students to ensure the maximum quality educational experience is provided and meets the curriculum guidelines of the school, program, and the Commission on Osteopathic Accreditation (COCA). Establishes new clinical training sites in addition to maintaining relationships with current sites through face-to-face calls that are followed up with the appropriate communication. Orients students to the clinical training site(s) and community where the clinical training is taking place and makes site visits during student rotations to ensure an exceptional experience for both the student and preceptor. Researches adequate housing and travel support as needed for students during their clinical training experience. Provides an overview of the mission and function of the Sam Houston State University (SHSU) - College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM) in the form of presentations to students, preceptors, health care sites, professional organizations and community programs. Ensures all clinical training programs adhere to the goals and objectives. Serves as an effective regional representative in the development of a region-wide presence with communities and in state-wide activities involving health professional programs, schools, and organizations. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Note: This position will work remotely from the College with travel for in person visits within the assigned region, but will also require intermittent travel to Sam Houston State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Conroe, TX.
Region: Red River (Texarkana, Dallas-Fort Worth, Mineral Wells, and north to Texas border).Up to 100% of this position, over the fiscal year during off-peak periods, may be performed remotely as determined by the supervisor.
