JOB DESCRIPTION:
Perform functions to support the efficient operation of the warehousing functions.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Load and unload delivery trucks at the warehouse and district buildings by hand or by use of hand truck or forklift.
  2. Help out in the warehouse as needed using a forklift, pallet jack or other equipment.
  3. Assist in receiving, storing, and maintaining all goods delivered to the warehouse.
  4. Verify accuracy of shipments by counting, weighing, or measuring items and comparing size, weight, description, and code numbers with information on invoice or packing slip and purchase orders; record any discrepancies or damage.
  5. Open crates and other containers using hand tools to unpack items received. Inspect shipments for damage and defects.
  6. Move inventory to various locations manually and by operating mechanical equipment, including forklift, pallet jack, and handcart.
  7. Sort and store items according to established procedures.
  8. Read and fill requisitions for stock items. Verify accuracy of orders pulled.
  9. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
  10. Deliver items to District campuses using a medium duty delivery truck.
  11. Responsible for all signed paperwork for items delivered through the District's electronic tracking system.
  12. Assist in physical inventories.
  13. Help keep shop, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition.
  14. Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and inform Warehouse Supervisor of any issues.
  15. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
  16. Maintain custody receipts for items being repaired and loaned out temporarily.
  17. Regular attendance.
  18. Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE: QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification:
  • High School Diploma
  • Valid Texas Driver's license
Special Knowledge/Skills:
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, bills of lading, invoices, and packing slips
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure
  • Ability to use computer for correspondence (email)
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form

Work outside and inside; on slippery or uneven walking surfaces, ladders, and; and around machinery with moving parts. Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, excessive noises, fumes, gas lines, and toxic chemicals. Frequent district wide travel.
