JOB SUMMARYPerforms highly complex administrative support work. Work involves providing and coordinatingadministrative support including disseminating information; developing filing systems; and preparing andediting reports and documents; and providing guidance to others. Works under limited supervision withmoderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSA. Performs complex technical assistance work in the planning and execution of inmate state ready andreceiving; and receives, processes, requests, and compiles documentation from other sections,departments, courts, counties, law enforcement entities, and other agencies regarding inmateincoming court documents, time credit, sentencing, statutory requirements and guidelines.B. Coordinates activities and procedures required to set up and update inmate records, files, andcomputer records; researches and reviews legal sources to include statutes, administrative records,mandates, case law, articles, opinions, and various rules and regulations; and compiles and editsdata and prepares reports for review to ensure agency compliance with inmate time calculations,rules, regulations, statutes, mandates, and court decisions.C. Coordinates and ensures quality control procedures are conducted on the processing of inmaterecords and that corrections are completed appropriately; identifies and resolves discrepancies;selects specific records to be analyzed for the quarterly performance review; and compilesdocumentation for administrative review and action.D. Reviews inmate state ready and receiving policies, procedures, and processes and makesrecommendations for improvements; develops administrative and technical assistance policies andprocedures; identifies areas in need of improvement; develops training materials; and providesprocess training.E. Provides technical assistance to staff, supervisors, inmates and their families, attorneys, judges, andother agencies.F. Performs criminal information searches and retrieval using Texas Department of Public Safetycriminal history system access.* Performs a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSA. Education, Experience, and Training1. Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED.2. Two years full-time, wage-earning customer service, clerical, administrative support,technical program support, or criminal justice experience. Fifteen semester hours from acollege or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for HigherEducation accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE)may be substituted for each six months of experience.3. Inmate classification experience preferred.4. Computer operations experience preferred.* Must have or be able to obtain a certificate of course completion for the Texas LawEnforcement Telecommunications System (TLETS) policy and procedures training from theTexas Department of Public Safety within six months of employment date.Must meet and maintain TLETS access eligibility for continued employment in position.For details see: and Skills1. Knowledge of office practices and procedures.2. Knowledge of business terminology, spelling, punctuation, and grammar.3. Knowledge of applicable state and federal laws, rules, regulations, and statutes.4. Knowledge of court cases and how they impact inmate time calculations.5. Skill in problem-solving techniques.10. Skill in the use of computer and related equipment in a stand-alone or local area networkenvironment.11. Skill to prepare and maintain accurate records, files, and reports.12. Skill to review technical data and prepare technical reports.13.
