JOB SUMMARYPerforms advanced inventory work. Work involves coordinating store and warehouse operations;displaying and selling merchandise; ensuring compliance with established security requirements,loss prevention controls, and procedures; and supervising the work of others. Works under limitedsupervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSA. Oversees and provides assistance to customers in finding products and making selections ofagency stock and merchandise; develops and implements inventory control operationsguidelines, policies, and procedures; and ensures an efficient system of property managementand control and recommends improvements.B. Oversees the receipt, warehousing, and distribution of products; reviews and approves requestsfor replenishing supplies and merchandise; prepares shipping and receiving documents;coordinates equipment maintenance and warehouse operations; and provides training andtechnical assistance on handling stock, record keeping, warehouse operations, and applicablepolicies and procedures.C. Prepares and reviews reports on warehouse operations, inventories, and stock levels;coordinates, schedules, and conducts inventory of stock and merchandise; and prepares andreviews inventory control records and reports.D. Maintains security of tools, machinery, and equipment; responds to emergency situations;performs various correctional and custodial support functions; and assists in maintainingsecurity of assigned inmates.E. Supervises the work of employees and inmates.* Performs a variety of marginal duties not listed, to be determined and assigned as needed.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSA. Education, Experience, and Training1. Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized bythe Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Departmentof Education (USDE). Major course work in Business Administration, Criminal Justice,Accounting, or a related field preferred. Each year of experience as described below inexcess of the required three years may be substituted for thirty semester hours from anaccredited college or university on a year-for-year basis.2. Three years full-time, wage-earning warehouse operations or inventory managementexperience.3. Two years full-time, wage-earning experience in the supervision of employees or inmates.4. Correctional custody or law enforcement experience preferred.B. Knowledge and Skills1. Knowledge of warehouse operations and inventory management practices and procedures.2. Knowledge of automated purchasing and accounting systems and procedures.3. Knowledge of inventory and stock control record keeping methods and procedures.4. Knowledge of state laws, rules, regulations, and statutes governing state purchasing anddistribution preferred.5. Knowledge of agency and departmental organizational structure, policies, procedures,rules, and regulations preferred.6. Skill to communicate ideas and instructions clearly and concisely.7. Skill to coordinate with other staff, departments, officials, agencies, organizations, and thepublic.8. Skill to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.9. Skill in problem-solving techniques.10. Skill to review technical data and prepare technical reports.11. Skill to prepare and maintain accurate records, files, and reports.12.
