Nature & Purpose of Position
The COHS Communications and Event Assistant supports the college's marketing, communications, social media, and event initiatives through graphic design, photography, video production, and digital content creation. Responsibilities include creating promotional materials, assisting with social media management, supporting events, and assisting with daily departmental operations. This role will also support the COHS Ambassadors. This position provides hands-on experience in a fast-paced higher education environment and is based on the SHSU Main Campus, with occasional responsibilities at The Woodlands Center and Conroe campus.
Other Requirements for the Position
Preferred majors: Marketing, Mass Communication, Public Relations, Digital Media, Graphic Design, or related field
Strong communication, organization, and time management skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Experience with social media platforms required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office preferred
Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, photography, or video editing required
Availability to work 15-25 hours per week, with occasional evening or weekend events
Reliable transportation for travel between SHSU campuses and event locations required
